How a Search for Quiet Breath Became a City Sanctuary
In the autumn of 2018, after years in corporate litigation that left her nervous system fractured by chronic urgency, our founder Ananya Rao traveled to Mysore and Rishikesh. What she encountered in traditional ashrams was not the hurried, sweat-maximizing fitness culture of Western gyms, but a profound reverence for breath, silence, and circadian rhythm.
Upon returning, she set out to create the sanctuary she had so desperately needed: a quiet, cedar-scented haven in the middle of the city where students could surrender the need to prove themselves, leave performance at the threshold, and rediscover physical harmony.
What started as a single sunlit studio room with 12 handcrafted cork mats has matured into Zenora-a multi-room wellness center featuring acoustic sound chambers, cedar infrared saunas, a dedicated tea apothecary, and a family of over twenty certified masters.
